DUDLEY -- Rosewood earned its second win in as many days with a 25-3, 25-11, 25-23 victory over Southern Wayne on Tuesday night.

The Eagles jumped on top early and ended the first set with nine consecutive points. The second set started strong before Southern Wayne began to find its collective footing. The Saints used a block by Katelyn Williams to pull within 16-8, but failed to get any closer.

Rosewood head coach Jennifer Cochran shook up her lineup in the third set and forced several of her players to play out of position. Her madness was rooted in method.

"I wanted to see some different combinations and see how our girls would react," Cochran said. "I think we did alright, but there are certainly things that we can improve going forward."

The Eagles opened up a 7-0 lead in the final set, but watched as the Saints came storming back. A pair of aces from Keaton Bradley pulled the home team within 8-5. Rosewood regained control when Ashlynn Spell delivered back-to-back aces and made the score 19-11.

Southern Wayne rallied one final time and eventually tied the set at 22-22 on a pair of unforced Rosewood errors. The Saints returned the favor, however, with a pair of miscues that ended the match.

Ellen Morgan and Lexi Mercer led the Eagles with four kills each. Hayley Mercer had seven assists and Callie Thornton finished with seven aces.

Rosewood (2-0 overall) plays host to North Johnston on Thursday, while Southern Wayne (0-2) travels to Spring Creek the same evening.
