DUDLEY -- Golfers who want to tee it up in the 2013 Wayne County Men's Amateur need to make their intentions known soon.

The three-day event is filling up fast and a full field of 144 players is expected. The WCMA organizing committee met at Southern Wayne Country Club this week to hammer out the final details of the event.

"We want to encourage potential players to get their entry forms turned in," tournament committee member Tim Rose said. "We are hoping for another full field, so it is important to not wait until the last minute."

All entry forms must be filed by June 22. Players can pick up entry forms at any local golf course or on the WCMA web site at www.wcmagolf.com. The cost to enter the tournament is $125.

All players must be a Wayne County resident or be a member in good standing at a club in Wayne County. Players will be given several gifts before teeing off for their first round.

"We have a great list of sponsors and I think this year's tournament is going to be on par with any we have had in the past," tournament committee member Parker King said. "The golf courses are in great shape and the weather has finally started to turn around after a cold spring."

The golf course rotation will be Goldsboro Municipal Golf Club, Southern Wayne Country Club and Lane Tree Golf Club. Walnut Creek Country Club plays host to the annual Wayne County Junior Amateur on June 17. The junior amateur still has openings for players ages eight and over.

"As always we want to get as many young people out to play as possible," Rose said. "The men's amateur and junior amateur are both really good events and we want the growth of each event to continue."
