Walnut Creek LGA
* A total of 70 golfers participated in the "Springtime in Paris" Invitational hosted by the Walnut Creek Ladies Golf Association.
Sam Gillette claimed first net in second flight competition. Hiromi Sueki took second net and the closest-to-the-pin prize on No. 13 in second flight.
Faye Franklin captured first net in third flight. Linda Cannon collected second net in fifth flight.
Lane Tree LGA
* Teresa Shearin seized game-of-the-week honors and low gross during play on the Lane Tree Golf Club links. Gwen Kelly and Nan Jarrell secured low net and low putts, respectively.
The LTGA grabbed the Eastern Carolina Ladies Golf Association championship recently contested at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville.
Linda Watson had first low net in the championship flight, while Cathy Garris took low putts. Novella Zambelli won second low gross in first flight. Sherry Minner had first low gross in second flight.
Betty Jean Gurley recorded low putts in third flight play.
Allen gets 3rd ace
* DUNN -- Local golfer Bert Allen recorded his third career hole-in-one while playing at Sandy Ridge Country Club on Thursday.
Allen aced the 127-yard, No. 11 layout with an 8-iron.
Allen's previous aces were at Black Mountain in 1995 and Goldsboro Municipal Golf Club in 2002.
