CALYPSO -- Princeton plated two seventh-inning runs and turned back North Duplin, 3-1, in a Carolina 1-A Conference game Tuesday evening.
The loss dropped the Rebels (12-6 overall) into a three-way tie for first place in the league with Ayden-Grifton and Rosewood. All three teams are 5-2 against Carolina opposition this season.
Mitchell Thigpen paced North Duplin's offense with two hits and drove in the lone run. Taylan Lewis provided two hits.
The Rebels' Trey Pate threw six solid innings and struck out eight Princeton batters. Thigpen threw an inning of strikeout relief and endured the hard-luck loss.
Michael Wooten and Matt Daughtry pitched for the Dogs.
