GRAHAM -- Mount Olive posted three of the top eight individual scores, but Queens University of Charlotte swept the field during the Conference Carolinas Match Play Championships on Monday afternoon.

The Royals successfully defended their women's golf team championship on The Challenge Golf links. MOC and King (Tenn.) shared runner-up honors, while North Greenville (S.C.) placed fourth.

The Trojans bested the competition by nine strokes during the two-day, 36-hole stroke-play portion of the tournament. The top four teams advanced to match play on Monday and the individual winner of each group received a point for her respective team.

As it did all weekend, Mount Olive received balanced scoring from all five players. Julie Leonnechen and Virginia Lane each shot a 7-over par 79 and tied for sixth individually.

Emelie Andersson fired a 37 on the back nine and finished with an 80. Emily Ohling ended up 12th with an 81. Stefany King was 18th overall at 86.

Mount Olive would have claimed the automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Championships, but the conference does receive an AQ for postseason play.
