WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock staged a late-inning rally, but South Central held on for a 2-1, non-conference victory Wednesday evening.
Trailing 2-0, Madison Walton started the Golden Falcons' sixth inning with a stand-up triple. Cierra Harris' ground ball through the infield scored Walton, but Harris was left stranded on base.
Aycock never threatened again.
Walton and sister Abbie Walton paced the Golden Falcons' offense with two hits apiece. Harris, Reagan Herndon and Katie Gay each had one hit.
Meredith Burroughs threw a complete-game three-hitter inside the circle. The junior, who has verbally committed to N.C. State, struck out seven and yielded one earned run.
South Central plated two first-inning runs on a wild pitch and throwing error.
Weather permitting, the Golden Falcons (7-7 overall) entertain South Johnston today.
