MURFREESBORO -- Mount Olive erased a late first-half tie with seven unanswered goals and handed in-state foe Chowan University a 19-6, non-conference loss in a women's lacrosse match Thursday afternoon.

Heather Cockburn logged a career-high five goals for the Trojans, who emerged victorious for the sixth time in their last eight outings and completed the regular-season sweep over the Hawks.

Riann Daziel added five goals.

Mount Olive (7-5 overall) never trailed in the contest after Daziel, Candace Corkin and Cockburn gave the Trojans a 3-0 lead barely four minutes into the contest.

But Chowan did not go away.

Down 4-1, the Hawks held the Trojans to just one goal over the next 14 minutes and knotted the score at 5-all on Mackenzie Cureid's goal.

Then Daziel and Cockburn took over.

Daziel struck a third time with 3:39 left in the first half to put the Trojans ahead for good. Things snowballed from that point on for the Hawks. Cockburn followed with her second and third goals to give Mount Olive an 8-5 cushion at intermission.

The Trojans' surge continued after halftime. Cockburn, Michelle Scannell, Daziel and Alex Crawford scored in succession in the first 7:35 to turn the contest into a blowout.

Scannell and Caitlin Sabadish added two goals apiece for a Trojan attack that had nine different players find the back of the net. Kara Lyon, Maddy Biggar and Victoria Petricola also added goals for Mount Olive. Crawford, Sarah Fischer and Lyon each had an assist.

Keeper Sarah Snell collected seven saves.

MOC plays host to No. 3-ranked Limestone (S.C.) College on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
