Goldsboro snaps 35-game skid on baseball diamond

Goldsboro snapped a 35-game skid with an 8-7, non-conference victory over Jones Senior on Wednesday afternoon.
The teams split their regular-season series.
"Got the monkey off of our back and got our first 'W'," second-year GHS head coach Jackson Massey tweeted. "Take this confidence into the next game. Proud of my team!"
Ronald Woody batted 2-for-4 with a double, scored three runs and earned the mound win. Marlon Thomas notched the save.
Zach Falconer contributed two hits and three RBI. Isaiah Core recorded two hits, an RBI and scored two runs. Jared Howard, Kyle Kyker and Miguel Lugo supplied one hit apiece. The trio combined to score three runs.
Goldsboro (1-9 overall) plays host to Wayne Christian today. First pitch is 5 p.m.
