SEVEN SPRINGS -- One day after suffering a shutout loss in its conference opener, Spring Creek visited the "win" side of the ledger on Wednesday afternoon.
Rachel McCollum recorded seven strikeouts inside the pitcher's circle and belted two home runs in the Gators' 8-7, non-conference triumph over previously-unbeaten Jones Senior. The Trojans endured their first defeat in five outings this season.
Karen Best and Corrie Archer posted two hits apiece for Spring Creek. Teammates Daisy Martinez, Grace West and Jessica Keyser each had one hit.
Spring Creek, which snapped a seven-game skid, continues play today at Carolina 1-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton.
