Eastern Wayne's gameplan was to slow down Charles B. Aycock star Cheyenne Warrick.

The plan worked for a half.

Warrick scored twice in the second half to complete a hat trick and led the Golden Falcons past the Warriors 4-1 on the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference girls' soccer scene on Tuesday night.

"With a player like Cheyenne, we see a lot of double and even triple teams," C.B. Aycock assistant coach Byron Adkins said. "Tonight she put forth a super effort and she managed to score anyway."

Warrick put the Golden Falcons in front in the 11th minute when she collected a ball at midfield and raced 50 yards for a point-blank shot that tickled the twine.

Eastern Wayne answered just two minutes later when Megan Mozingo headed a corner kick off the foot of Anne Reed Hulse into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

"I thought we really played an even game for about the first 30 minutes," Eastern Wayne head coach Jorg Wagner said. "I was pleased with the effort, now we have to learn how to better deal with adversity when it comes our way."

C.B. Aycock (4-2-0 overall, 4-1-0 ECC) took the lead for good in the 35th minute when Alex Strickland deflected a corner kick from Emily Borel past the Warriors' keeper.

Eastern Wayne (1-2-0, 1-2-0) stayed within one goal until the 58th minute when Borel delivered a perfect pass to Warrick who promptly scored her second goal and made the score 3-1. Warrick added a third goal in the 76th minute to complete the 4-1 final score.

"Once we got that third goal it really took the pressure off," Adkins said. "It forced (Eastern Wayne) to play more people forward and that led to an opening for the fourth goal late in the game."

The Golden Falcons finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal.

C.B. Aycock is the guest of Wilson Fike tonight. Eastern Wayne visits Triton on Friday.
