MOUNT OLIVE -- Riann Daziel punched in a season-high five goals and Mount Olive College turned back in-state foe Catawba, 17-14, in a non-conference women's lacrosse match at Amon Field on Thursday afternoon.

Kara Lyon added three goals for the Trojans, who climbed to 5-4 overall this season. Heather Cockburn, Michelle Scannell, Alysha Kulka and Candace Corkin provided two goals apiece.

MOC goalie Sarah Snell recorded nine saves.

Catawba (1-5) trimmed a three-goal deficit to one barely two minutes into the second half. Daziel and Cockburn answered with goals less than a minute apart, and Sarah Fischer scored to make it 14-10.

Goals from Lyon and Scannell boosted the Trojans' advantage to 16-10 with two minutes remaining. Catawba climbed to within 16-14, but Mount Olive's Candace Corkin tallied her lone goal with 39.1 seconds to seal the outcome.

The Trojans entertain Shorter College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
