Wayne Christian not only dominated the possession on Thursday afternoon, but it completely took Crossroads Christian's offense out of the equation.

Kasey Norris scored a pair of goals and the Eagles controlled the ball throughout their 4-0 Carolina Christian 1-A Conference victory. Wayne Christian finished with an 11-4 edge in shots on goal and a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles earned three corner kicks in the opening six minutes.

Norris won a loose ball inside the 18-yard box in the 14th minute and her shot deflected off the hands of Colts' goalkeeper Sydney Chappell, and into the goal.

Norris beat Chappell again in the 18th minute to increase the lead to 2-0.

Wayne Christian (2-2-0, 2-1-0 CCC) consistently got offensive support from its defense and midfield as both units fed passes up to attacking forwards.

"We did a good job controlling the ball, that's what we've been trying to work on," Eagles' head coach Daryl Anderson said. "We've got seven seniors and they communicate well and they play together good. We've been working on our defenders coming up and supporting and that really helps a lot."

Brooke Barfield scored on a penalty kick in the 44th minute and Kelsey Kornegay capped the scoring in the 65th minute.

Crossroads struggled to move the ball beyond midfield and Wayne Christian's defense was rarely challenged.

"If you stay on your opponents' end of the field you don't have to worry about them scoring," Anderson said. "It just helps keep pressure on the ball."

The Eagles travel to Lee Christian on Tuesday.
