HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Carly White tossed a six-hit shutout and Beth Overman homered as Mount Olive defeated Conference Carolinas leader Coker (S.C.) College 4-0 in the opening game of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

The Trojans pieced together a four-run, seventh-inning rally and claimed the nightcap, 7-5. Kalie Smith, Jesse Crist and Kassie Lowe each had an RBI single. The Cobras committed three costly errors.

White (6-3) struck out three and walked just one batter during her second shutout of the season. She allowed four hits in the final three innings, but retired the side in order after giving up a lead-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

Overman gave Mount Olive a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as she was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Jones' single. Overman led off the top of the sixth with a triple and came home on Katie Moore's single to extend Mount Olive's lead to 2-0. She capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

In the nightcap, the Trojans trailed 4-3 after six innings.

Moore and Jennifer Jones reached on back-to-back errors to start the game-clinching rally. Smith singled to right and both runners scored when the Cobras' outfield misplayed the ball.

Smith scored on Crist's single. Lowe drove in Crist to make it 7-4.

MOC reliever Christie Wright (3-0) pitched the final 22/3 innings for the win and allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh. Wright struck out three.

The Trojans (14-6 overall, 3-1 CC) plays its first home doubleheader of the season Saturday against King (Tenn.) College. First pitch is 4 p.m. at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field.
