PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock launched its 2013 season with a 6-3, non-conference loss to perennial power Wilson Fike on Thursday afternoon.

Top-seeded Will Hoff and third-seeded Chas Hooks each claimed a third-set tiebreaker, while fifth-seeded Alan Best prevailed in straight sets. Hoff is the lone senior in the Golden Falcons' starting lineup.

"Overall, I was pleased with our singles play for the first match," CBA head coach Luke Vail said. "We have a long way to go in doubles. We are very inexperienced and hopefully will show steady improvement each match."

Aycock (0-1 overall) opens its Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference schedule at home today against North Lenoir.
