WINSTON-SALEM -- Mount Olive College captured the top individual awards for field events and placed among the top four teams in the inaugural Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championship meet Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans' Ryan Campbell seized the men's field athlete-of-the-year award, while Aerostata Brown collected the women's field athlete-of-the-year plaque.

Freshman Dylan Lafond received men's freshman-of-the-year accolades, making him the first-ever student-athlete in MOC history to earn freshman-of-the-year recognition in two different sports. Lafond won the Conference Carolinas freshman-of-the-year plaque in men's cross country.

The Trojan men placed fourth in team competition, while the women took third place.

Campbell captured a pair of all-Conference Carolinas awards, winning the shot put to earn first team honors and finishing third in the weight throw for third team honors. Lafond finished first in the mile and the 3,000 meters to garner two all-Conference Carolinas first-team awards.

Mount Olive finished with a total of nine men's all-Conference Carolinas awards. Nick MacAdam won a pair of all-conference awards, finishing second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Ronnie Sturgill placed second in the 5,000 meters and Sebastian Jackson was second in the weight throw.

Aki Kitagawa finished third in the 3,000 meters.

On the women's side, Brown took three all-Conference Carolinas first-team awards championship efforts in the 60-meter dash, long jump and triple jump.

Jaynell Brown, a two-time Conference Carolinas women's field events athlete-of-the-week winner this season, grabbed all-conference first team honors with a first-place finish in the shot put.

Megan Bucek, Christina Jordan, Dorna Spence and Daisy Thomas each earned third-team honors in the distance medley.

MOC concludes its regular-season indoor schedule Feb. 17 at the George Mason (Va.) University Last Chance Meet. The competitors will get one last opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Division II championships.
