WCDS girls fall to unbeaten Oakwood in CPIC tournament final

WILSON -- No. 3-ranked and unbeaten Oakwood handed Wayne Country Day a 53-36 loss in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference tournament final Saturday evening.
Sarah Best led the Chargers with 12 points. Hannah Pearson contributed nine points, while Karis Hawkins collected eight points.
The Chargers (10-12 overall) play host to Ridgecroft in the opening round of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs on Tuesday. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
Oakwood (18-0) earned the CPIC's automatic-qualifying bid to the playoffs and drew a No. 3 seed.
