Cleveland clinches ECC crown at Eastern Wayne's expense

CLAYTON -- Cleveland clinched its second consecutive Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season championship with a 59-14 decision over Eastern Wayne on Tuesday evening.
The Rams (21-6, 5-0) earned the league's No. 1 seed for the NCHSAA dual-team playoffs and eliminated the Warriors from postseason contention.
Junior Quadrick Williams, Jamel Barrett and Romario Torres each logged an individual win for Eastern Wayne. Torres, the team's lone senior, recorded a 55-second pin against the Rams' Brian Collins at 126 pounds.
Eastern Wayne concluded the year 11-10 overall and 1-4 against ECC opposition.
