Wayne Country Day came up short in a 33-31 loss to Coastal Plains Independent 1-A newcomer Pope John Paul on Tuesday evening.
Sarah Best led the Chargers with 15 points and Bailee Creger had five.
Wayne Country Day (4-9 overall 2-3 CPIC) plays host to Trinity Christian of Fayetteville tonight.
