BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Adam Miracle recorded three of his team-high 11 kills during a match-ending run and Renzo Rossato delivered a kill on match point during Mount Olive's season-opening 28-26, 25-21, 26-24 triumph over King College on Thursday evening.
It was the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball opener for both teams and the head coaching debut for the Trojans' David Heller.
Andreas Lengler finished with nine kills for Mount Olive, while Einarson added seven kills and a match-high five blocks. Einarson and Rossato each committed only one error apiece and combined for a .571 hitting percentage. Rossato also recorded four blocks.
The Trojans finished with a .261 team hitting percentage.
Setter Ben Casado recorded 29 assists in his first outing with the Trojans. Lengler and Dan Arnold shared match-high honors with seven digs each.
Mount Olive (1-0 overall, 1-0 CC) Langler's back row kill capped a 3-0 run that forged a 16-16 deadlock. The Trojans built a three-point advantage only to see the Tornado move in front 23-21.
Richard Hesse's kill ended King's surge and back-to-back kills by Miracle gave Mount Olive its first match point. The Tornado (0-1, 0-1) stayed alive on Stephen Brown's kill, but Miracle's kill gave the Trojans another match point.
Miracle served for the match and Rossato sealed the win with his seventh kill of the contest.
MOC owned a 39-36 advantage in team kills.
The Trojans remain in Bristol for a non-conference match against Quincy (Ill.) today. Quincy swept the regular-season series a year ago.
