BEULAVILLE -- Southern Wayne continued its path to maturity with non-conference victories over Pender (54-21) and East Duplin (45-30) on Monday evening.
The Saints got individual wins from Nick Kennan, O'Khanye Wallace, Wynn, Deonta Hayes, Zach Buff, Chase Horon, Chris Brinson and Aaron Ashford during the tri-meet.
"We are showing signs of growth since the beginning of the year, but we have a long way to go still," first-year Southern Wayne head coach Glenn Gardner said. "I am proud of the kids' effort to get better every day and push this program to get back to where it used to be. We have to work harder and push harder."
Southern Wayne (4-8 overall) travels to Southern Nash on Friday.
