WCDS nets share of CPIC regular-season girls' tennis championship

Wayne Country Day slipped past Greenfield 5-4 and earned a share of the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference regular-season championship Tuesday afternoon.
Gianna Democko, Sarah Best and Margaux Pope each claimed a singles win for the Chargers. The tandems of Democko-Margaux Pope and Best-Abbey Pope also prevailed.
Wayne Country Day begins play in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A dual team playoffs on Oct. 23.
