JV football: Southern Wayne 38, Eastern Wayne 12

Four different Southern Wayne players contributed a touchdown in a 38-12 win on Thursday evening at Eastern Wayne.
Tyiarre Allen led the Saints' offense with 143 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Xavier Pearsall added 111 yards on the ground and a score. James Leonard and D.J. Graham each scored a rushing touchdown. Leonard also had a two-point conversion.
Josh Jernigan paced the Southern Wayne defense with eight tackles. Loel Deans added seven tackles and O'Kanye Wallace made six stops. Marquaill Roddick had five tackles and William Pigg recovered a fumble.
K.K. Best led the Warriors with 159 yards on 13 carries. Zeke Martin hauled in a 32-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter from Ricky Steiner. Larry Newsome also scored a rushing touchdown. Robert Gonzalez recorded seven tackles.
The Saints (3-3 overall) play host to South Johnston on Oct. 11 while Eastern Wayne travels to Charles B. Aycock.
