Erskine sweeps MOC in volleyball

MOUNT OLIVE -- Carly White pounded out 12 kills, but Mount Olive College endured a 25-23, 25-20, 25-18 loss to Erskine (S.C.) College in a Conference Carolinas women's volleyball match Saturday.
It was the Trojans' first defeat in league play this season.
After taking the first set to the wire, Mount Olive (cut a 20-14 deficit in half in the second set. Erskine (2-5, 2-0) scored the next four points and withstood another late rally.
The Flying Fleet pulled away in the third set.
MOC (5-5 overall, 1-1 CC) returns to action Wednesday at Barton College. The Trojans won two of three meetings last year. First serve is 7 p.m. at Wilson Gymnasium.
