Binar notches four goals in Gators' win at EW

Otto Binar did the work in the opening 40 minutes.

His defense helped preserve the win late.

Binar scored four goals and Spring Creek earned a 4-2 win Monday evening at Eastern Wayne.

The Gators fed passes from the midfield through to their forwards throughout the first half. Spring Creek attackers ran on to passes in space creating scoring opportunities.

Binar got the Gators on the scoreboard in the sixth minute as hit shot sailed over the head of Warriors' keeper Brad Makdad.

Eastern Wayne tied the game a minute later as a corner kick deflected off a Spring Creek player and into the back of the net.

Binar struck again in the 11th minute when a through ball from Ivan Lemus slipped through the Warriors' defense and towards a charging Makdad. Binar won the ball from Makdad and tapped it into the open goal.

"We had some real good touch on the ball today I thought," Gators' assistant coach Jeff Sullivan said. "We did a good job of sending some passes forward and Otto really got us going early."

Eastern Wayne's Sam Biggs was fouled inside the 18-yard box in the 12th minute and Mitchell Kaspar's penalty kick tied the game at 2-2.

The Warriors missed an opportunity to take the lead in the 23rd minute as Adrian Thompson's penalty kick was saved by Spring Creek keeper Victor Ortiz.

Binar's collected a rebound off a save by Makdad in the 36th minute and scored to put the Gators in front for good at 3-2.

Eastern Wayne dominated the possession in the second half , but failed to produce quality scoring chances and Spring Creek's defense cut off passes to attacking forwards. The Warriors failed to convert on two corner kicks and a free kick from 25 yards out in the final five minutes.

"The pressure worked out OK in the second half, it is just that we didn't really create any quality chances," Eastern Wayne head coach Jorg Wagner said. "We create quality chances quite often in practice, but we have to find a way to do it in games more regularly."

Binar's goal in the 76th minute put the game away.

The Gators finished with a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.

The Warriors (2-4-0 overall) visit Southern Wayne on Wednesday. Spring Creek (3-0-2) travels to Southern Wayne on Thursday.
