MOUNT OLIVE -- The roster for the inaugural season is taking shape.
Mount Olive College head women's lacrosse coach Grant Kelam announced four transfer students have joined the program -- Alanna Bauche, Alex Crawford, Rebecca Dow and Kara Lyon. All are sophomores, except for Lyon.
Crawford and Dow transferred from Tennessee Wesleyan College, Kelam's previous school.
"This is an extremely talented group of student-athletes," Kelam said. "They all possess complementary talents, from do-it-yourself dodgers to creative and crafty feeders to out-and-out finishers. They should work very well together.
"What makes it even more exciting is that they will have at least two years together. It will be all about how quickly they gel together."
Bauche hails from Calgary, Alberta and is a transfer from Post University (Conn.). As a freshman, Bauche tallied eight goals, six assists and was one of seven team members to play and start in all 15 games last season.
Crawford is from Duluth, Ga., and graduated from Peachtree High School. She recorded three goals during her freshman season at Tennessee Wesleyan.
Dow is from John's Creek, Ga., and a graduate of Northview High School. Dow played in 17 of 18 games last year at Tennessee Wesleyan, starting in nine. She finished the season with 14 goals and two assists.
Lyon comes to Mount Olive from Monroe Community College (N.Y.), which reached the NJCAA national championship game in each of her two years at the school. Monroe CC won the 2011 national title and compiled a 35-4 record in Lyon's two years. She scored 30 goals in her sophomore year and ranked third in the nation with 37 assists. Lyon recorded 17 goals and 19 assists as a freshman.
