North Duplin downs Dixon in junior legion

CALYPSO -- North Duplin got the bats going early and often in a 14-8 win over Dixon on the junior legion baseball scene on Friday night.
Mitchell Thigpen led the Rebels with three hits and two RBI. Bryce Best added two hits and two runs scored. Trey Pate delivered the big blast of the game with a grand slam home run. Pate finished with five RBI.
"I felt like we finished the week strong hitting the ball well and playing some great defense," North Duplin coach James Hobbs said. "We really helped our pitching out."
Pate got the win on the mound. Thigpen struck out four batters in three innings of relief.
The Rebels improved to 9-2 overall.
