INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Mount Olive College drew the No. 9 seed and will play eighth-seeded Wingate in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional-I men's tennis tournament on Sunday.

Armstrong Atlantic State is the regional host.

The Trojans (18-6 overall) won their first-ever Conference Carolinas tournament title with a 5-4 victory over Limestone (S.C.) on Saturday.

"That was very exciting to see Mount Olive's name when it came up on the board," said head men's tennis coach Kevin Coghill, who was named 2012 Conference Carolinas men's tennis coach-of-the-year. "That kind of made it sink in that we really are in the NCAA tournament."

Women take title

VASS -- Tegan Skirptas emerged the individual champion and seized Most Valuable Player honors during the season-ending Conference Carolinas women's golf championship on Tuesday afternoon.

Skirptas held a two-shot lead after Monday's round. The senior posted a second-day 76, giving her a two-day total of 150 -- eight strokes lower than her nearest competitor. It match the second-lowest, 36-hole score in program history.

The Trojan women placed second in the team title chase and finished 11 strokes behind Queens.

"This is definitely the best team we've ever had," Skirptas said.

Teammates Emelie Andersson and Valentina Urquiola ended up fifth and ninth, respectively. Urquiola shot a 36-hole score of 164 and earned all-tournament honors for the third consecutive year. Andersson fired a two-day total of 161.

Emy Ohling added a 172.

Baseball moves up

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College vaulted to the No. 1 spot in the latest Collegiate Baseball Division II top 30 poll and held on to the No. 3 slot in the College Baseball Lineup rankings for the second consecutive week.

The Trojans (38-7 overall) concluded regular-season play with a three-game sweep of Conference Carolinas newcomer North Greenville (S.C.) University. They open tournament play Thursday against in-state rival Pfeiffer University. First pitch is 7 p.m. at historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson.

Matt Dillon was selected the Conference Carolinas pitcher-of-the-week. The junior right-hander scattered five hits -- all singles -- and tossed eight scoreless innings in a 10-0 triumph over North Greenville. Dillon (8-0) is the second Trojan pitcher and sixth player overall this season to earn league player-of-the-week accolades.
