Charles B. Aycock closed out its undefeated run through the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference girls' soccer schedule with a 9-1 win over archrival Eastern Wayne on Thursday night in New Hope.

The Golden Falcons extended their ECC regular-season win streak to 24 games.

"To win 24 games in a row in conference play is a tough thing," C.B. Aycock head coach Kevin Adkins said. "Our girls played relly well tonight on the offensive end and I thought we played with good intensity."

The Golden Falcons opened the scoring in the third minute when Emily Borel booted a corner kick into the box. The ball deflected off of Cheyenne Warrick and into the net. The visitors made it 2-0 just two minutes later when the same duo again connected off a corner.

C.B. Aycock climbed ahead 3-0 on a goal from Myra Waheed in the 15th minute. Warrick made the score 4-0 in the 34th minute with a 50-yard run that resulted in a point-blank shot.

"C.B. Aycock has four or five really good players and they all work well together," Eastern Wayne head coach Jorg Wagner said. "We did our best to stop Warrick, but tonight it didn't work."

Warrick added two goals in the second half to complete her five-goal outburst. She also tallied two assists and recorded one save in goal after being swapped out from her normal forward spot to keeper.

Alex Strickland finished a long run with a goal in the 71st minute to make the score 8-0.

Eastern Wayne got on the board in the 74th minute when Ann Reed Hulse collected a rebound and buried a shot in the back of the net. The visitors capped the 9-1 tally in the 79th minute when Jaden Thames booted home a penalty kick.

"I thought we put good pressure on throughout the game," Adkins said. "We still have a few things that we can correct on the defensive end, but the offense was fine all night."

C.B. Aycock (15-3-0 overall, 12-0-0 ECC) will receive an opening-round bye in next week's conference tournament. Eastern Wayne (7-7-0, 7-5-0) entertains Southern Wayne in a first-round game on Tuesday.
