GREENVILLE -- It was deja vu all over again for Charles B. Aycock.

A chain of missed opportunities at the plate and a late error allowed Nash Central to hand the Golden Falcons a 2-0 defeat during the Pitt County Classic at D.H. Conley on Saturday evening.

The exact same scenario cost the Golden Falcons a game at Southern Wayne two nights earlier.

"I'm absolutely at a loss for words," C.B. Aycock head coach Charles Davis said. "We didn't hit the ball, we didn't bunt the ball effectively and we didn't play well in the field."

Both teams were locked in a pitcher's duel for four innings before Nash Central got on the board in the fifth. Khalil Macklin led off with a double off the left-field fence. Jalen Hendricks put down a sacrifice bunt in front of home plate, but the Golden Falcons could not make the play and an errant throw sailed into right field.

Hendricks raced all the way to third base and Macklin easily trotted home to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Hendricks later scored on an RBI single from Christian Perry.

The exact same scenario cost Aycock a game at Southern Wayne two nights earlier. The Saints scored on a missed third strike and plated the game-winning run on an error.

"Until we learn how to make the routine plays we are going to get the same result," Davis said. "That is all there is to say."

The 2-0 lead was more than enough for Bulldog starter Tyler King, who scattered three hits over the course of a complete-game shutout. C.B. Aycock was led by Blake Sutton's two-hit night. Collin DuBose added the only other Golden Falcon hit.

The Golden Falcons stranded eight runners, including five in scoring position.

Aycock (9-6 overall) travels to South Central on Monday.
