Princeton defeats Spring Creek on softball diamond

* PRINCETON -- Two-time defending Carolina 1-A Conference champion Princeton pushed across 10 first-inning runs and cruised past Spring Creek, 19-1, on Friday evening.
Kasey Edwards paced the Bulldogs' offense with three hits. Katlyn Peedin, Logan Jones and Hannah Woodard contributed two hits apiece. Logan Pace, Charley Cox, Megan Gerrell, Carson Braswell, Reandy Hearn and Danielle Best each had one hit in the mercy-rule win.
Jones claimed the mound win, striking out five and giving up an unearned run on four hits.
Karen Best, Morgan Stancil, Sarah Ford and Allison Tanner each had a hit for the Gators.
Princeton (7-4 overall, 2-0 CC) travels to North Duplin on Tuesday and plays host to Goldsboro on Wednesday.
