Girls' basketball
Goldsboro 71,
Spring Creek 25
* SEVEN SPRINGS -- Goldsboro clinched its third consecutive Class 1-A Carolina Conference regular-season championship with a 71-25 win Tuesday night at Spring Creek.
Kasheika Wallace led the Cougars with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Shatoria Exum provided 14 points, while Talaya Lassiter had 13.
"This just says a lot about the girls' hard work," Goldsboro head coach LaTina Bullock said. "It also says a lot about our tradition."
Janna Price scored 15 points for the Gators. Alyssa Borja added 10.
Goldsboro (19-2 overall, 9-0 CC) entertains Ayden-Grifton on Friday, while Spring Creek (0-19, 0-9) visits North Duplin.
W. Country Day 59, Faith of RM 30
* Seniors Catherine Ford and Mack Thompson punctuated their stellar prep careers with a 59-30 beatdown of Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Tuesday night.
Ford, the all-time leading scorer in Wayne Country Day girls' basketball history, finished with nine points and nine rebounds despite playing limited minutes due to the blowout.
Thompson tallied 12 points in the win.
"I have been coaching these girls for a long time and they are the reason I am here," Wayne Country Day head coach Eric Perry said. "It is a bittersweet night, but I wish them all the best as they go forward."
Sarah Best paced the Wayne Country Day offense with 20 points.
Carrie Lewis finished as the only player in double figures for Faith with 12 points.
Wayne Country Day (10-6 overall, 3-2 CPIC) concludes regular-season play Friday at Greenfield.
Princeton 45,
Ayden-Grifton 25
* AYDEN -- Princeton secured a second-place finish in the Carolina 1-A Conference with a 45-25 win Tuesday night at Ayden-Grifton.
The Bulldogs' Savanna Massengill finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Nicole Melvin chipped in 10 points and Charley Cox had eight points.
Princeton (13-8 overall, 7-2 CC) plays host to archrival Rosewood on Friday.
Rosewood 45,
North Duplin 28
* CALYPSO -- Rosewood picked up a 45-28 win Tuesday night at North Duplin.
Alicia Burns paced the Eagles with 16 points.
Jessica Jones scored eight points for the Rebels. Danielle Hinrichs and Tiffany Williams each scored six points.
Rosewood (6-14 overall, 4-5 CC) travels to Princeton on Friday, while North Duplin (4-14, 2-6) plays host to Spring Creek.
Eastern Wayne 42, Triton 39
* ERWIN -- Eastern Wayne saw a double-digit lead shrink to two points in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors held on for a 42-39 win on Tuesday night at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Triton.
Tianna Christopher finished with nine points for the Warriors. Nijah Muhammad added eight points. Jasmine Benjamin scored six points.
Eastern Wayne (11-11 overall, 7-4 ECC) entertains North Lenoir on Thursday.
Washington TEACH Trailblazers 52, Goldsboro Ice 22
* The Goldsboro Ice concluded its first regular season with a 52-22 loss Tuesday night to the Washington TEACH Trailblazers.
McKayla Parks led the Ice with six points and eight rebounds. Jasmine Boston grabbed 12 rebounds and Anna Wisniewski supplied five points.
The Ice face North Wake on Feb. 18 in Wake Forest for the NCHEAC title before competing in the state tournament on Feb. 24-25 in Greensboro.
Crossroads Christian 55, Wayne Christian 47
* HENDERSON -- Wayne Christian fought hard but came up short in a 55-47 loss on Tuesday night at Carolina Christian 1-A Conference member Crossroads Christian.
The Eagles' Kelsey Kornegay finished with 25 points to go with eight rebounds. Courtney Barrow contributed eight points and Katie Isenhower had six points.
Wayne Christian plays host to Cape Fear Christian on Thursday.
North Lenoir 55, Southern Wayne 42

Faith Christian 58, Berean 48
* Faith Christian ended a six-game losing streak with a 58-48 win Berean Christian on Tuesday night.
Katie Watson finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Conquerors. Elizabethe Weeks provided 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Brianna Champion contributed nine points and eight rebounds. Christina Powell had eight points, five assists and five steals. Meredith Clark added eight points and Abigail Pierce scored seven.
Faith (4-11 overall, 1-8 Coastal Region 2-A) plays host to Trinity Christian of Greenville on Monday.
Boys' basketball
Princeton 50, Ayden-Grifton 45
* AYDEN -- Princeton completed its regular-season sweep of Ayden-Grifton with a 50-45 win on Tuesday night.
A.J. Smith scored 16 points for the Bulldogs and Austin Hinton added 12 points. CJ Jeffreys had 10 points and Dalvin Stancil provided eight points. Smith also pulled down eight rebounds and Princeton committed just two turnovers.
The Bulldogs (13-10 overall, 6-3 CC) entertain Rosewood on Friday.
Rosewood 47, North Duplin 41
* CALYPSO -- Rosewood overcame a slim halftime deficit and survived for a 47-41 win on Tuesday night at Carolina 1-A Conference foe North Duplin.
Joel Davis led the Eagles with 14 points. Jyonte Raynor contributed 13 points and Josh Davis had 10 points.
James Kornegay scored 17 points for the Rebels. Breyon Johnson added 14 points.
Rosewood (9-9 overall, 5-4 CC) travels to Princeton on Friday. North Duplin (4-14, 1-8) plays host to Spring Creek.
Triton 83, Eastern Wayne 41
* ERWIN -- Triton opened up a 41-19 lead at halftime and rolled past Eastern Wayne 83-41 on Tuesday night.
Tyrick Kornegay led the Warriors with 10 points. Lee Atkinson had six points.
Eastern Wayne (9-12 overall, 5-6 ECC) plays host to North Lenoir on Thursday.
Southern Wayne 67, North Lenoir 47
* LaGRANGE -- Southern Wayne knocked off North Lenoir 67-47 on Tuesday night.
Quintae Bradshaw pulled down 12 rebounds for the Saints and Trey Allen distributed 10 assists.
Southern Wayne (16-6 overall, 8-3 ECC) plays host to C.B. Aycock on Thursday.
Wayne Christian 78, Crossroads Christian 57
* HENDERSON -- Chase Darden poured in 37 points to go with 12 rebounds and Wayne Christian thumped Carolina Christian 1-A Conference opponent Crossroads Christian 78-57 on Tuesday night.
Seth Slusher contributed 14 points for the Eagles and Chris Easom added 12 points.
Wayne Christian (5-20 overall, 2-13 CCC) plays host to Cape Fear Christian on Thursday.
Goldsboro Heat 63, Washington TEACH Trailblazers 54
* Blake Poland knocked down a key 3-pointer and the Goldsboro Heat held on for a 63-54 win over the Washington TEACH Trailblazers on Tuesday night.
Poland also went 6 for 6 at the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win. He finished with 11 points and seven assists. Justin Spears paced the Heat with 20 points to go with six rebounds. Harrison Farley contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.
The Heat begin play in the NCHEAC tournament on Feb. 17 in Wake Forest.
Faith Christian 68, Berean 25
* Faith Christian dominated Berean Christian 68-25 on Tuesday night.
Michael Clark and Wes Caudle each scored 16 points for the Conquerors. Connor Anderson had 10 points.
Faith plays host to Liberty Christian on Thursday.
Wrestling
Dixon 37, Rosewood 34
* DURHAM -- Rosewood's journey in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A dual-team wrestling playoffs ended with a three-point loss to Dixon on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles (37-15 overall) received individual wins from Angel Jaramillo (113 pounds), Nick Quillen (120), Evan Reiss (145), Josh Drew (152), Quadre Ayers (160), Kaleb Smith (182) and Taylor McGill (195).
JV sports
* Girls' basketball: Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 32, Wayne Country Day 11 -- Logan Harrell paced the Chargers with five points. Taylor Sledge had four points. Wayne Country Day (7-6 overall, 2-3 CPIC) visits Greenfield on Friday.
* Girls' basketball: Faith Christian 22, Berean Christian 15 -- Meredith Skinner led the Conquerors (3-7) with 10 points.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 58, Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 39 -- Tyler Talton and Jamal Forde each scored nine points for the Chargers (15-3 overall, 5-0 CPIC).
* Boys' basketball: North Duplin 51, Rosewood 43 -- No other details were reported.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 48, Wayne Country Day 34 -- Preston Edwards finished with 15 points for the Chargers (16-1, 6-1 CPIC). Tony Townsend had 10 points.
