DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock prevailed in four of six individual contested bouts, drew eight forfeits and handed Southern Wayne a 72-12 defeat on the wrestling mat Wednesday evening.
It was the Eastern Carolina 3-A regular-season finale for both teams.
The Golden Falcons (32-5 overall, 4-1 ECC) secured the No. 2 seed for the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team playoffs, which begin Feb. 7.
"Our starters remained sharp tonight, scoring four pins in contested matches," said CBA head coach Marc Peck.
Aycock opened the match with four consecutive forfeits to Khaleil Owens (160 pounds), Broc Doyle (170), Devin Best (182) and Ryan Morton (195). Jorge Flores gave his team a commanding 30-0 advantage in match play with a pin over the Saints' Bobby Stocks.
Back-to-back pins from Zack Howard (106) and Nick Jones (113) kept the momentum in Aycock's favor. Senior co-captain David Romo claimed the Golden Falcons' final individual bout by pinning Ryan Mills.
Jordan Bailey (120), Daniel Romo (138), Charlie Mills (145) and Preston Tucker (152) each received a forfeit. Tucker is within three victories of joining the program's Century Club (100 career wins).
Heavyweight Deonta Hayes and 126-pounder Austin Williams each emerged victorious for the Saints.
The teams return to action Saturday at Cleveland for the season-ending ECC Championships. Aycock is the defending team champion.
"We look forward to putting a full and healthy lineup on the mat this weekend," said Peck.
