It's here.

Let the official wrestling season begin.

More than 200 grapplers will duel in more 500 matches to determine 14 individual champions during the 16th annual Eagle Invitational, which is Saturday at Rosewood High School. The longest-running individual tournament in Wayne County begins with first-round bouts at 9:15 a.m.

Admission is $10.

No coolers filled with food or drinks will be allowed in the gym for either teams or individuals. The RHS Booster Club will serve breakfast from 8-11 a.m. and will unveil its unprecedented delectable lunch menu that includes hotdogs, sausage dogs, hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches ... the list goes on ... for the remainder of the tournament.

The 21-team field includes 17 returning state qualifiers and five state placers from last season. Raleigh Millbrook is the defending team champion. Also back are Pine Forest and South Central, which won the 2009 and 2008 team crowns, respectively.

Perennial 3-A power Charles B. Aycock, Eastern Wayne, Goldsboro and Spring Creek will represent Wayne County along with the Eagles.
