Rosewood did its best to slow down Spring Creek at Branch Pope Field on Wednesday evening.
A torrential rain storm finally did.
The Gators led 3-1 at halftime before officials called the contest due to heavy rain. Spring Creek clinched at least a share of its fourth consecutive Carolina 1-A Conference boys' soccer championship, and fifth overall in the last six seasons.
Salateel Carreno won the ball outside the 18-yard box and beat Eagles' keeper Daniel Herring to put Spring Creek in front 1-0 early in the first half.
Rosewood tied the game at 1-1 as Tan Truong collected a rebound off his own penalty kick and headed it into the back of the net.
David Vega's shot from the left of the 18-yard box got past Herring to give the Gators a 2-1 advantage. Omar Zavela scored off Vega's assist late in the first half to increase the margin to 3-1.
Spring Creek plays host to Goldsboro on Monday, while the Eagles travel to Ayden-Grifton.
