MOC weekend

LAURINBURG -- The Mount Olive College women's volleyball team continued its mid-season climb up the Conference Carolinas ladder with weekend triumphs over St. Andrews and Coker (S.C.) College.
Erika Conner and Carly White pounded out 18 kills apiece in the Trojans' 25-25, 17-25, 30-28, 25-21 decision over St. Andrews. Ashlee Reuter delivered a 10-kill effort, while Charnel Austin delivered 42 assists.
White recorded three blocks.
Less than 20 hours earlier, Conner and White posted a career-high 22 kills apiece in a 25-18, 30-28, 23-25, 25-14 win at Coker. White added four blocks and Conner collected five digs on defense.
Sophomore libero Lauren Lee registered 12 digs.
The Trojans (9-10 overall, 5-6 CC) entertain St. Augustine's on Wednesday. First serve is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
Paxson leads MOC
DUE WEST, S.C. -- Cara Paxson tallied one goal and one assist, and Mount Olive College remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action with a 3-0 victory over Erskine (S.C.) College.
Mount Olive struck first in the 22nd minute when Paxson delivered a long pass to freshman Damilia Brooks, who lofted the ball over a charging Erskine goalkeeper. It was Brooks' first collegiate goal.
The Trojans finally broke through in the final two minutes of the match.
In the 89th minute, Paxson scored her second goal of the season when she received a crossing pass in the box, put a move on an Erskine defender and placed the ball inside the far post on the right side.
With just 30 seconds remaining, Lindsey Stanley fielded a poor clear by Erskine and fed it to Becky Sanzsole for the Trojans' third goal.
Lyndsey McIntyre posted her fourth shutout of the season and lowered her goals-against average to 0.68. She finished with six saves.
The Trojans (8-1-1 overall, 7-0-0 CC) travel to Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday.
Sarr does the job
DUE WEST, S.C. -- Vieux Sarr supplied the game-tying and game-winning goals in a come-from-behind, 3-2 triumph over Erskine (S.C.) College on the Conference Carolinas men's soccer scene.
Trailing 2-1 after the Fleet's Dylan Goodale scored in the 57th minute, the Trojans found themselves in need of offense.
As the clock reached the 82nd minute, Sarr found space in front of the net, gathered a loose ball and delivered the tying goal. Nearly four minutes later, Sarr struck again when he re-directed an Omar Shazly pass into the net.
It was Sarr's sixth goal of the season and fourth in the last four games. It marked the second time this season Sarr has scored two goals in a match, the first coming against Florida Southern in the season opener.
Trojan goalkeeper Kyle Lavender kept Erskine off the board the final 34 minutes. After Sarr scored the go-ahead goal, Lavender came up with a pair of saves. Lavender finished with four saves.
MOC (5-7 overall, 4-2 CC) continues play Wednesday at in-state conference rival Queens University of Charlotte.
