MOUNT OLIVE -- Vindication at last!

Lindsey Stanley and Lauren Tobin tallied goals within two minutes apart and lifted Mount Olive to a long-awaited, 2-1 victory over Belmont Abbey on Saturday.

The Trojans entered the game 0-20 all-time against the Crusaders since MOC entered the Division II era in 1995.

Mount Olive (6-1-1 overall, 5-0-0 Conference Carolinas) trailed 1-0 in the 69th minute when Sarah Porter kept a ball in play on the right sideline and Smith found Stanley near the right corner. Stanley dribbled into the right side of the box just above the goal line and chipped the ball at a tight angle just above the Belmont Abbey goalkeeper inside the left post.

The match was tied at 1-1.

Two minutes later, Tobin and Porter both had shots blocked at the top of the box. Tobin captured the rebound off of Porter's attempt and punched in her first collegiate goal at 70:17.

Porter, who scored the winning goal against Pfeiffer on Wednesday, logged her second assist of the game.

MOC, ranked No. 8 in the latest Southeast Region poll, improved to 6-1-1 overall and remained perfect in five Conference Carolinas outings this season.

Pelegrino leads MOC

MOUNT OLIVE -- Murilo Pelegrino punched in two goals and recorded an assist in Mount Olive's come-from-behind, 3-1 triumph over Conference Carolinas men's soccer rival Belmont Abbey.

Pelegrino received a centering pass from Vieux Sarr in the 78th minute and scored for a 1-1 tie. Five minutes later, the duo teamed up for the Trojans' second goal with Sarr's crossing pass bouncing off several Crusader defenders and resting at Pelegrino's foot.

Pelegrino knocked it for a 2-1 advantage.

Sarr added a third goal in the 86th minute off Pelegrino's pass.

The Trojans (4-6-0 overall, 3-1-0 CC) carry a four-game win streak into Tuesday's league match at Coker (S.C.) College.

White plays strong

MOUNT OLIVE -- Sophomore middle hitter Carly White delivered 11 of her career-high 22 kills in the decisive third set of a 25-17, 25-21, 25-21 triumph over Converse (S.C.) College on the Conference Carolinas women's volleyball scene.

White tied Heidi Busch's record for most kills in a three-set match. She became the first player in program history to register at least 20 kills and post a hitting percentage over .700 in the same match.

Converse lost its seventh straight three-set decision.

The Trojans logged a season-high .432 hitting percentage with 54 kills and just 13 errors in 95 attempts. Erika Conner and Ashlee Reuter cranked out 13 and nine kills, respectively, in the three-set sweep.

Charnel Austin distributed a career-high 50 assists for MOC.

The Trojans (6-10 overall, 2-6 CC) entertain archrival Barton on Tuesday.
