MOUNT OLIVE -- Lindsey Stanley recorded her first-ever collegiate hat trick (three goals) and regionally-ranked Mount Olive opened its NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas season with a 3-1 triumph over King (Tenn.) College on Saturday afternoon.

Stanley, who hails from Eastover, raised her season total to four goals.

A senior forward, Stanley broke through less than three minutes into the second half when she put back a deflection to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead at the 47:45 mark.

MOC extended the lead to 2-0 at the 52:23 mark when Brittany Thurlow's service found Stanley in the box. Stanley slipped past the keeper for her second goal.

Stanley completed her hat trick at 71:58, just under six minutes after King (1-4-0, 0-3-0 CC) had pulled within a goal. Cara Paxson's restart 10 yards above the 18 found Stanley for her third goal.

The Trojans, ranked No. 8 in the D-II Southeast Region poll, improved to 2-1-1 overall this season. It was the conference opener for both teams.
