Chargers shut out Cougars, earn piece of Carolina 1-A baseball title

LITTLEFIELD -- Ayden-Grifton clinched a share of the 2011 Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season crown with a 25-0, mercy-rule victory over Goldsboro on Friday evening.

The Chargers (15-7 overall, 8-2 CC) tied with North Duplin for the league's top spot, and earned the No. 1 seed for the playoffs since it swept the regular-season series between the two teams.

Adam Wingate, Chris Gay and Blake Allen had three hits apiece for A-G.

Sabastien Barwick claimed the mound win.
