KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Mount Olive defeated Wheeling Jesuit 8-0 in six innings and fell to Ashland 3-0 during day two of the Rebel Spring Games.
The Trojans are 6-2 in their last eight games.
MOC faces Pennsylvania schools California University and University of the Sciences today, and concludes its Spring break trip with contests against Slippery Rock and Wilmington (Del.) College on Thursday.
Reinhard honored
MOUNT OLIVE -- Aubrey Reinhard, who batted .833 in four Mount Olive victories last week, has been named the Conference Carolinas softball player-of-the-week.
Reinhard is the first Trojan player to win the award this season.
A Rosewood alum, Reinhard finished a combined 10-for-12 in non-conference doubleheader sweeps of CIAA members Shaw and Fayetteville State. She had three doubles against Shaw and six doubles in the four-game set overall.
Trojans take two
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Mount Olive College earned a straight-set victory over Stevenson and a four-set triumph over SUNYIT during a men's volleyball tri-match at Stevenson College on Tuesday evening.
Angel Dache recorded 13 kills in the Trojans' 27-25, 25-12, 25-22 decision over Stevenson. Benedikt Schirmers added 11 kills, including the last one on match point; and Bjorn Metzger added 10 kills.
Jackson Mettechecchia collected 46 assists.
Alejandro Rivera recorded 17 kills, while Jack Tutty posted 10 blocks in a come-from-behind 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 conquest of SUNYIT. Jarvis Karchewski added eight blocks and 44 assists, while Benjamin Casado collected 15 digs. Alex Vazquez chipped in eight kills and six digs.
Mount Olive players were credited with 29 block assists and three solo blocks (17.5 team blocks) in the contest.
The Trojans (13-4 overall) visit Division I George Mason University today. First serve is 7 p.m.
