Boys' tennis

Greene Central 4

PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock claimed the deciding doubles match and bested Greene Central 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

The tandem of Bradley Wilson-Austin Walker rallied from a 7-3 deficit and held on for an 8-7 win to clinch the match for the Golden Falcons.

Michael Kearney and Rex Rose also prevailed in doubles play. Rose, Kearney, and Walker each won their respective singles matches.

Eric Simmons, Dylan Smith and Robert Taylor each won in singles play for the Rams. The duo of Simmons-Taylor won in doubles action.

C.B. Aycock (2-0 overall) entertains North Lenoir today.

Softball

North Lenoir 2,

Greene Central 1

LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir rallied for a 2-1, non-conference victory over Greene Central on Wednesday afternoon.

Nicole Robinson earned the win in the pitcher's circle for the Hawks. Robinson allowed three hits and struck out six batters. Dani Moulton paced the victors at the plate with a double and an RBI.

North Lenoir (1-0 overall) plays host to South Lenoir today.

South Lenoir 5,

Southern Wayne 1

DEEP RUN -- Southern Wayne committed six errors en route to a 5-1 defeat at South Lenoir on Wednesday night.

Madison Davis suffered the loss in the pitcher's circle despsite logging 10 strikeouts.

Holly Rose led the Saints at the plate with two hits and an RBI.

Southern Wayne (0-1 overall) entertains Southern Nash on Monday.

West Carteret 8,

Eastern Wayne 0

MOREHEAD CITY -- West Carteret swung hot bats throughout an 8-0, non-conference win over Eastern Wayne on Wednesday afternoon.

Stephanie Smith led the Warriors with two hits. Sterling Strickland took the loss in the pitcher's circle.

Eastern Wayne (0-1 overall) travels to Greene Central on Friday.

Baseball

North Lenoir 15,

Greene Central 5

LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir broke out the bats early and often en route to a 15-5 win over Greene Central on Wednesday afternoon.

J.T. Williams, Brian Hardy and Jonathan Huntley each recorded two hits for the Hawks. Chastin Radford earned the win on the pitcher's mound.

Deric Grant led the Rams with a hit and an RBI.

Greene Central (1-1 overall) will travel to Spring Creek on Tuesday.

JV sports

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 10, Wilson Hunt 4 -- Greg Johnson claimed the mound win, permitting three runs (one earned) on seven hits in a four-inning stint. Ryan Grant threw two-plus innings of one-run relief. Grant doubled and collected two RBI. Hunter Jones doubled in a 2-for-4 showing. Rider Gardner (two RBI) and Dylan Hinnant (two RBI) supplied two hits apiece. Dustin Price doubled and drove in two runs. C.B. Aycock (1-0 overall) travels to Princeton today.

* Baseball: Eastern Wayne 17, South Central 7 -- Josh Dixon and Grayson Wells led the Warriors' offense with two hits each. Dixon was also the winning pitcher as he recorded four stirkeouts in four innings. Tyler Warren pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Eastern Wayne (1-0 overall) plays host to D.H. Conley on Friday.

* Softball: West Carteret 17, Eastern Wayne 7 -- Debbie Mitchell, Brooke Marowski and Diamond Parks each tallied two hits in the defeat. The Warriors dropped to 0-1 overall.
