GREENVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock alum Zach Wright hit his first home run of the season, a grand slam, and collected five RBI in East Carolina's 7-4, non-conference win over Campbell at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Wright batted 2-for-4 and scored two runs and raised his batting average to .240. His third-inning, grand slam homer was the fourth of his career, which tied former ECU standout Brandon Henderson with the most since 2002.

Tied at 2-2 in the third inning, the Pirates' Corey Thompson stroked a single through the right side shortly before Chase McDonald drew a one-out walk. Chris Gosik moved Thompson over to third on a fly out to right field and Philip Clark loaded the bases on another walk.

Wright followed with his towering shot to left center off Campbell hurler Matt Marksberry.

ECU head coach Billy Godwin collected career win No. 461.

The Pirates (5-2 overall) begin a three-game, weekend series with Pepperdine University on Friday. First pitch is 5 p.m.
