MOUNT OLIVE -- Curtis Hudson tossed five scoreless innings and nationally ninth-ranked Mount Olive tallied season-high run and hit totals with a 24-2 victory over St. Andrews in Conference Carolinas baseball Sunday at Scarborough Field. The Trojans collected 27 hits on their way to completing a three-game series sweep and extending their winning streak to nine.

Ryan Faison and Dan Hayduk had three hits apiece as nine different Trojan players recorded multi-hit games. Faison and Hayduk each had three runs batted in, as did Jason Simone and Jacob Rogers.

Mount Olive (13-2 overall, 3-0 Conference Carolinas) scored in each of the first eight innings, breaking the game open with five runs in the second inning. Rogers delivered a two-run triple in the inning after Michael Knox was intentionally walked. Knox, who belted a school-record four home runs in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, drew four intentional walks Sunday.

Hayduk led off a five-run fifth inning with his second home run of the season and Antonio Callaway led off a five-run seventh inning with his first home run of the year. Callaway narrowly missed a second home run in the inning when his line drive to left was caught at the warning track to end the inning.

Hudson (2-0) allowed three hits, striking out six and walking none. He never allowed more than one baserunner in an inning, retiring 15 of the 18 batters he faced. Hudson made a relief appearance Wednesday after missing the first two-plus weeks of the season with an injury. Four Trojan relievers pitched one inning each. Both St. Andrews runs were unearned.

St. Andrews (4-9, 0-3) avoided the shutout when T.J. Werner led off the top of the seventh with a double and eventually scored on a groundout. Colin Armstrong's sacrifice fly brought in the second run.

Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday as the Trojans play host to Francis Marion in a non-conference doubleheader at Scarborough Field. The twinbill is a rematch from last year's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. Mount Olive was eliminated by the Patriots in the regional. Game time is 4 p.m.
