MOUNT OLIVE -- Antonio Callaway's walk-off, two-RBI single pushed No. 9-ranked Mount Olive College past in-state rival Wingate University, 5-4, in the opening game of their doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman southpaw Josh Frederick earned his first collegiate win in relief as the Trojans claimed the nightcap, 16-2, at Scarborough Field.

Down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh, the Trojans (9-2 overall) sandwiched three walks between two strikeouts to load the bases. Callaway appeared to get hit by a pitch that would have driven in the game-tying run, but the umpire ruled the ball hit the bat and the count stood 1-1.

Callaway took a called strike and fouled off two pitches before lining the game-winning hit into left center field. Callaway finished the game with two hits and two RBI in four at-bats.

Preseason All-America candidate Michael Knox and Jaoob Rogers provided two hits apiece, while Rogers drove in a run. Ryan Faison batted 1-for-3 with two RBI.

MOC starter allowed one unearned run on five hits in four-plus innings. Curtis Hudson (1-0) took over in the fifth and retired two straight batters to end the inning. He overcome a two-out, seventh-inning error to keep the Trojans within one run.

In game two, the Trojans scored five runs on six hits in the first inning, capped by Braden Reitano's two-run double. Faison, Callaway and Michael Knox all singled to lead off the first and second innings.

Every Trojan starter had at least one hit as Mount Olive belted a season-high 20 hits.

Frederick (1-0) ended a one-out bases-loaded threat in the top of the fourth by inducing a 4-6-3 double play. The Eastern Wayne alum worked 1 2/3 innings and logged one strikeout. Starter Matt Hinkle allowed two runs -- one unearned -- and struck out two in his first start for Mount Olive.

The Trojans open Conference Carolinas play at home Saturday against in-state foe St. Andrews. The doubleheader begins at noon. The teams will play single game Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
