MOUNT OLIVE -- Alyssa Bradshaw cranked out four RBI, Kristin Ware notched her second complete game in the circle and Mount Olive defeated Lees-McRae, 5-3, in game two of their Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats took the opener, 5-4.

Ware (2-0) benefited from a sixth-inning double play turned by middle infielders Kelly Minshew and Olivia Poplin. She overcame a two-out, seventh-inning single and ended up putting a seven-strikeout, nine-hit effort in the books.

Bradshaw belted an RBI single in each of the first and fourth innings, and supplied a two-RBI double in the third inning. Katie Devenuto and Robbin Kennedy contributed two hits apiece in the Trojans' 12-hit attack.

Lees-McRae got homers from Lindsey Huntsinger and Paige Coleman in game one. The Bobcats departed 6-4 overall.

It was the conference opener for both teams.

Mount Olive (3-3 overall) travels to in-state rival Chowan for a noon doubleheader Friday. The Trojans entertain Shepherd (W. Va.) University for a twinbill Saturday.

Men's volleyball

MOUNT OLIVE -- Adam Miracle recorded his first collegiate double-double and Mount Olive College finished unbeaten in the 2011 MOC Invitational contested at Kornegay Arena.

Miracle delivered 15 kills and a career-best 10 digs in the Trojans' 25-21, 26-24, 24-26, 25-19 conquest of Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University. MOC concluded first-half league play 4-0 after a four-set triumph over Limestone (S.C.) on Friday.

Angel Dache and Jack Tutty finished with 12 kills apiece for Mount Olive, while John Nunns added 10 kills and a team-high five blocks against Pfeiffer. Jackson Mettechecchia recorded 52 assists.

The Trojans handed York (N.Y.) College a straight-set loss in their second meeting Saturday morning.

Benjamin Cassado recorded 34 assists and six blocks. Tim Ebbecke had a match-high seven blocks. Renzo Rossato added nine kills and Giora Sela finished with four service aces.

Mount Olive opened the Invitational with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-21 triumph over York on Friday evening. Bjorn Metzger tied a school record with 11 blocks and Giora Sela recorded a match-high 10 kills with only one error in 14 attempts.

Miracle logged 15 kills, while Dache and Benedikt Schirmers each added 13 kills in a 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 25-18 victory over Limestone. Jarvis Karchewski handed out 45 assists for Mount Olive, while Nunns led all players with seven blocks.

Tutty and Miracle added six blocks apiece, while Schirmers finished with five. Dan Arnold led all players defensively with nine digs.

Mount Olive (11-2 overall) travels to No. 9-ranked Penn State on Friday and is the guest of St. Francis (Pa.) University on Sunday.
