Chargers' Gregory reaches 1,000 points

Wayne Country Day senior guard Josh Gregory surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career during a 69-58, non-conference home loss to perennial 1-A power Trinity Christian-Fayetteville on Tuesday evening.

Gregory pumped in a team-high 18 points and dished out seven assists for the Chargers, who dropped to 13-7 overall this season. Hil Tanner and senior Tyson Pearson knocked down 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Brandon McCarter supplied seven points and nine rebounds.

On the girls' side, junior guard Catherine Ford collected a team-best 18 points in a 47-37 victory over Trinity Christian.

Sarah Best added 15 points, while Mack Thompson scored seven.

WCDS (11-4 overall) travels to Oakwood on Tuesday for a first-place showdown in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play. The Chargers conclude regular-season play at home Feb. 11 against nemesis Greenfield.
