* ROCKY MOUNT -- Tyson Pearson pumped in 18 points and Wayne Country Day thrashed Faith Christian of Rocky Mount, 74-31, in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference action Monday evening.
Hil Tanner and Sameer Patel added 12 points apiece for the Chargers.
Josh Gregory provided eight points. Brandon McCarter, Aaron Forde and Luke Bryan each supplied six points in the road win.
WCDS (13-6 overall, 3-1 CPIC) entertains Trinity-Fayetteville today.

* ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day used a stifling defensive performance to take down Faith Christian of Rocky Mount 41-26 on Monday night.
Sarah Best paced the Chargers' offense with 15 points. Mack Thompson and Catherine Ford finished with eight points apiece.
Wayne Country Day plays host to Trinity of Fayetteville tonight.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 51, Brogden 14 -- Ashley Darden paced the Norwayne attack with 17 points. Taylor Daniels added 14 points in the win. Norwayne finished the season 11-3 overall.
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 17, Cape Fear 16 -- Georgia Parnell led the Wayne Christian offense with eight points. Wayne Christian improved to 4-8 overall.
