HOLLYWOOD -- Alex Edmonds drew a decisive forfeit at 152 pounds, and Charles B. Aycock edged host D.H. Conley 41-38 to finish unbeaten during a non-conference, quad wrestling meet Friday evening.

The Golden Falcons (24-10 overall) triumphed against Big East 3-A member Wilson Fike for the second time this season, and dusted short-handed Manteo. Aycock extended its win streak to nine matches.

"Our young men defeating D.H. Conley speaks a lot to the improvement we have made as a team," said Golden Falcons head coach Marc Peck.

Conley owned a 7-6 edge in contested matches against Aycock, but couldn't put a wrestler on the mat at 152. Ironically, it was Edmonds' first victory of the season.

Nick Jones, David Romo, Daniel Romo, Zeb Darden, Nick Simmons and Travion Lewis each claimed an individual win against the Vikings. Darden, Simmons and Daniel Romo each concluded the day 3-0.

Jones, David Romo, Jordan Bailey, Preston Tucker, Khaleil Owens, Lewis, Jorge Flores and heavyweight Jarrod James won two matches apiece. Zach Rhue, Jamar Owens and Jaquan Walker each collected one win.

The Golden Falcons compiled a 12-12 mark in actual contested matches and picked up 17 forfeits, including 10 against Manteo. The Redskins, of the Carolina/4 Rivers 1-A Conference, had just four wrestlers in the lineup.

The three-match sweep was the final tune-up for Aycock, which entertains county rival Southern Wayne in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season finale for both teams Tuesday. The Golden Falcons can clinch the ECC championship outright with a win.

"(Assistant) Coach (Mark) Bass and I are very proud of this group," said Peck. "There are still two team goals to accomplish, ECC tournament champs and third round of the state duals."
