Goldsboro 52, Princeton 7

* PRINCETON -- Goldsboro erupted for 40 first-half points and rolled to a 52-7 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference rival Princeton on Friday night.

The Cougars needed fewer than five minutes to take a 14-0 lead on Quadray Blount's 45-yard touchdown reception and Michael Sykes' 45-yard pick six. Andre Montgomery added a six-yard touchdown run and Goldsboro led 20-0 after one quarter.

"We started out with simple mistakes early," said Cougars' head coach Eric Reid. "We got on track and we were able to get a good start. Compliment to the end of the game."

Montgomery caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Corteiz Sprangle midway through the second quarter. Freddie Jones tacked on a 46-yard touchdown run and Devon Deshields reeled in an 8-yard touchdown pass. Sprangle finished with 171 yards and three touchdowns on eight completions.

"He was a field general," said Reid. "That was one of the main things we were happy about. (It's) always good to see your senior have a good night. Especially from a quarterback standpoint. From a passing standpoint, his fundamentals are a lot better. He's reading defenses a lot better and that comes with the senior leadership he's been showing off the field and on the field."
