Girls' tennis
Eagles capture hardware
* RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian racked up plenty of hardware at the season-ending, Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament on Friday at Lions Park.
The Eagles' Brooke Barfield claimed the conference championship at No. 1 singles. Faith Sutton and Taylor Willman earned conference titles at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Reagan Hinton prevailed as the conference champion at No. 4 singles.
The team of Barfield-Sutton won the conference title at No. 1 singles. Wayne Christian and Grace Christian shared the regular-season conference title. Grace edged Wayne 30-28 in team points to win the tournament championship.
Volleyball
Berean Christian 3, Faith Christian 0
* Faith Christian suffered a 25-14, 25-20, 25-13 loss to Berean Christian in the second round of the N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region 2-A playoffs on Friday.
Taylor Downey contributed four blocks and Christina Powell provided four aces and three kills. Abigail Pierce supplied two digs, one kill and a block.
JV football
* C.B. Aycock 36, South Johnston 28 -- The Golden Falcons' (5-1 overall, 2-0 Eastern Carolina 3-A) Cody Garris rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Garris was 4 for 4 passing for 30 yards. Jeremy Hooks rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Tyrik Joyner added 75 yards rushing a touchdown. Joyner recorded nine tackles and Khalil Owens made six stops.
