ELIZABETHTOWN -- Devon Best rushed for 201 yards but it wasn't enough as James Kenan suffered a 49-35 loss at East Bladen on Friday night.
The Tigers trailed 28-21 at the half, but couldn't close the gap.
James Kenan was whistled for nine penalties for 110 yards. Quarterback Parker Jones was 4 for 20 passing for 60 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
"Other than the offense with the turnovers and we gave up some big plays in the passing game, and we gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown, I thought we played with them," said James Kenan head coach Ken Avent Jr. "Devon had a great game. Our offensive line played as well as we probably have in quite a while. We had some positives we can take out of it."
Dontrill Hyman paced the Tigers' defense with 16 tackles.
James Kenan (2-1 overall) entertains East Duplin on Sept. 17.
